About 27 miles of the coast of San Francisco. near the Farallon Islands, we found a few humpback whales who put on quite a show. The feeding is good for the Humpbacks in the nutrient rich fall waters for the Gulf of the Farallones. This footage was captured with a hand held image stablized camera, which paled in comparision to the footage we captured that day with a mako-head stablizer for a documentary. On Friday, January 4th, the San Francisco Bay and surrounding areas experienced a hurricane like storm with wind speeds of over 75 mph recorded around and record rainfall. It knocked the power out to approxiametely 1.9 million utility customers. About 357,000 customers remained without power for the weekend. I was one of them,(Sandra Cannon), which is why it took me so long to edit the video. The second half of the video shows most of the same locations on an average Sausalito morning. Excuse the handheld shake in the storm section, but it was RAINING AND WINDY outside.

we have captured incredible underwater marine mammal "communications". This trip we had spectacular breaching whales, but no underwater sounds.
