Above Angel Island San Francisco Bay
Angel Island is the Jewel of the San Francisco Bay. An Island preserved by the California State Parks. You can get there by the Angel Island Ferry from Tiburon.
The Island is "haunted" by rich history. It was once a rich hunting and fishing site for the Miwok Indians and then a cattle ranch for the early Spanish explorer Juan Manuel de Ayala. The Island was a processing point for Chinese immigrants from 1910 to 1940. During World War Two it held POW's. Angel Island had a Hospital on the East side of the Island. In the 50's and 60's the U.S. Army had a Nike Missle base on the Island.
Angel Island became a state park in 1954.
