Sun Sets West of Fort Point, Golden Gate Bridge
Sun Sets West of Fort Point, Golden Gate Bridge 10/21/2006
The Golden Gate Bridge was built around Fort Point in order to preserve it. Fort Point has a small moveable lighthouse on the roof. The lighthouse was designed to be portable to hide it in the event of enemy approach by sea. The waters on the south side of the San Francisco Bay are very tricky to navigate, and without a beacon for guidance it could mean trouble.
In honor of San Francisco Bay's Golden Gate Bridge upcoming 75th anniversary, SF Bay Digital Images Photo Blog is presently daily pictures of the Golden Gates. To learn more about the 75th anniversary celebration visit goldengatebridge75.org
