Who:
Around 100 racers from around the world are planning to attend. The US National Championship Windsurfing event is open to all nationalities and has attracted many of the world's top ranked professional competitors. Many of the top nationally-ranked amateur competitors are locally based, and look forward to having the best in the world here on their home turf - The Bay Area. The area’s racing fleet is top in the US - many local racers are past national champions.
Ages:
- A strong junior (9-18) contingent will be present - part of a successful ongoing effort by the sport to encourage young talent.
- Many of the older competitive racers will be present also- like local Steve Sylvester, age 56, who often wins his division, yet is also the top tier overall.

Where:
Crissy Field on the San Francisco City Front. The Crissy Field is one of the premier windsurfing event sites in the world. Framed by the Golden Gate Bridge, it is the backdrop of a dynamic cosmopolitan city center. Radical, high-wind, extremely challenging conditions create the ideal spectator viewing from the beachside. Competitors will rig and launch from the Crissy Field East Beach. Spectators are encouraged to come and meet the sailors.

What & When:
Updates and daily results can be found at www.stfyc.com

Event Schedule:

August 6, Monday: Registration and tune-up
August 7, Tuesday: Racing - appx: 12-5
August 8, Wednesday: Racing - appx: 12- 5
August 9, Thursday: Racing - appx: 12-5
August 10, Friday: Racing - appx: 12-5
August 11, Saturday: Racing - appx: 12-5 - Awards Ceremony

Racing Disciplines:
Course Racing - Like traditional yacht racing with a tactical, strategic upwind and downwind battle, covering a typical triangle course.
Long Distance - A grueling test of stamina and the ability to handle highly variable, extreme conditions as the racers cross distant corners of the San Francisco Bay.
Slalom - High-speed, downwind races on small, lightweight boards and sails. This is a very exciting, close-to-shore, tightly-packed fleet race, ideal for spectators.

Equipment:
Formula Windsurfing is an equipment standard class, which places limits on the number of sails a racer may use for an event, and applies limits to the board dimensions. This levels the playing field and allows amateur competitors easy access to the same gear used by the professionals.
Generally speaking, this limitation system makes it more affordable for average participants to race on state-of-the-art gear. The Formula system has revived competitive windsurfing around the world by making it more inviting and accessible to those interested in racing. In terms of traditional sailing, a Formula Windsurfing set-up is among the fastest of course-racing sailboats.

Key Support Organizations:
Regatta Host: The St. Francis Yacht Club - www.stfyc.com

Sweeping Aerial Photography from SFBayImages.com with Camera Work by Thom Miller, Directing and Producing by Sandra Cannon and Music by Lock + Key Productions. Kind of downtempo with thriller movie kind of score keeping you in suspense. I cut this when the Zodiac Killer was released this summer, so it has sort of a "Miami Vice", CSI, San Francisco as slick crime scene feeling to it.

Sweeping Aerials of San Francisco Skyline including the Bay Bridge, PacBell (ER) ATT Park, the Embarcedo, The City Skyline, the Golden Gate Bridge and of course the Fog.

The Golden Gate Bridge on a Clear Day.

Thats the cable that holds the thing up. Certianly no sense of scale in the image.
Could of been like special effects photography and a tiny little model just for the photography but it be rough for any human to get their arms all the way around that.

It has always stuck me how similar the color of the paint is to boat bottom red, back from the days when they put lead in the boat bottom paint on Sailboats. I have wondered if it was less of an aesthetc choice and more of a functional choice, the color.

Gulf of the Farallones Film/HD/Photography Expeditions.

For those of you who joined us last year, this is the same expedition.
We went to the Farallon Islands with 20 photographers on board. Imagine
all the equipment. It was a great trip. SFBayImages.com captured Sony 900 HD
footage of whales breeching, nature and Farallon Island scenary. Our guests captured media in everything from hd, to professional digital to pocket cameras. The whales made quiet a performance. On board were professional photographers from all over the San Francisco Bay area. Get tickets at SFBAYTRADINGCO.com

Please come join us for our annual trip(s) this year. We are trying to go twice.

We will be limiting the available space on the boat to 20 paying guests.
There will be a naturalist on board to help identify the nature we see. We will
be on board a stable fishing charter vessel. We plan to have two trips this year.
Click on the whale tale below (It is worth watching to see whales breeching and the white shark pictures and great music!)to see a slide show of the nature out at the Farallon Islands.

This photocast is available on DVD for playing on TV, HDTV, and Computers in our Atmopsheric Art Section. It comes in high resolution
and plays for thirty minutes with and an excellent soundtrack similar to this song.

It turns out to be quite a photography networking party. See one story on the trip at

North of San Francisco accross the Golden Gate Bridge is spectacular natural beauty.
There is the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, the Coastline, the Beaches and Point Reyes National Seashore not to even delve into Bodega Bay and beyond.

This is a slide montage of the Point Reyes Seashore. The music, while Celtic, is meant to have a world fusion thing reflecting the many early settlers including the Native American Indians, the Russians, and the hippies. The sound track is reflective of world fusion.

You can find the Full length DVD of this enahnced at High Resolution with 5.1 surround sound and Blu-Ray discs coming in the fall of 2007 at SFBAYTRADINGCO.com
