Checking himself out in the morning reflection. Nothing like a male who keeps himself preened. Safety tip, don't date men prettier then you are or thinks so at least or delusionally fancies themself as james bond. Ok, so this fellow is actually hunting and gathering in the high tide looking for edible snacks in the shallow waters below him. But if the guy you are dating gives the barista at your coffee shop the name "James as in James Bond" to call for his cup of joe and
resembles this duck, well, dump him on his unfaithful butt.

Good Morning San Francisco and Welcome 2008!

I went to the Marin Headlands intending on just watching the sunrise and meditating on the new year. The sun went right thru the Golden Gate Bridge and I caught this shot on way out. My good friend calls these prism lens flares "spirit balls" and apparently there are a lot of folks out there that believe this to be true. I have noticed in prolonged time tripod interior photography that people can pass through and image with just a hint or not see them at all. I have wondered if perhaps there are things all around us that we just cant see because they go at different rate of speed.

This father is walking at a brisk pace on a circuitous path around the pond to get to the launch field for the Reno Great Hot Air Balloon Race. The painterly images in the pond reflect that the balloons are already rising.

Happy New Years. Welcome 2008. May things that are not yet truly real, but you are taking action to manifest in your life, become real just around the bend.

Snowbirds.

These Canadian Geese have it good! They live here in Marin County all year long. My parents are Canadian. They live in Toronto in the Summer and migrate to Florida for the Winter with regular specific rest stops along the US Eastern shores. They are dubbed "snowbirds" by local Floridians.

Canada Geese, Canada Goose, Canadian Geese. Early one morning I mentioned to a photographer friend that I was out looking for Canadian Geese and had he seen any that day? He said he didn't even know what American Geese looked like. I found this couple in the Marin wetlands at the end of Richardson Bay.

Technically the Sausalito Christmas Holiday Lighted Boat Parade, but the San Francisco Lighted boat parade does not have the beautiful San Francisco Holiday night Skyline as a backdrop. Happy Holidays. On location sound from the boats, I liked the kids enthusiasm, but not the most professional sounding track.

In honor of it being winter solstice (the cold woke me up last night)I thought I would post a picture of a Peruvian sunset I took earlier this month while shooting a documentary in Peru. I did not see the heart shaped rock in the foreground until later. Serendipity.

Its a girl thing.






It a girl thing. Once in a while I run across photos while filling orders that seem really worthy of reviewing. This talented gal was taking sailing lessons at the Sausalito Yacht Club. For those of you younger then then oh say 30, women sailors are a realiively new thing. Dawn Riley brought it out with her female America Cup team. When I first started photographing races in 2002, females on team were rare.
In fact people in the sailing world could name all the female sailors in the bay area. These days when you shoot a boat race almost every boat has one if not many woman. And then of course there is the lipstick kiss spinnaker in the Farr 40 fleet.

Uh, Yeah. This is a pro team below, doing a good job I might add, but not a female on board. In all the boats competing in the Vintage America Cup Class Boats 2003 I can only thing of one woman on one boat. Oh do correct me if I am wrong. Of course I was out there following them around on my chase boat. Please note the bow man in the water on the first shot. Good Save!

The evening can be dark and chilly; Please bring warm clothes, flashlight, and a mug for hot drinks. There will be a FREE Solstice Shuttle running between Muir Beach parking lot and Muir Woods 4-8 PM.

January 9th, 2008 will mark the 100th birthday of Muir Woods as a National Monument.

I was shooting documentary footage on Best Friends Animal Society's Rapid Response team in Ica Peru who were assisting dogs and cats in the wake of the recent earthquake. SAUSALITO - December 8, 2007

The 18th Annual Sausalito Lighted Yacht Parade, along the Sausalito Waterfront beginning at the north end of town, off Clipper Yacht Harbor and proceeding south passing the Spinnaker Restaurant into the cove at the Sausalito Yacht Club, where the judges will be stationed, and Gabrielson Park, continuing out around the ferry landing past Scoma's & Horizon's Restaurants, passing the Sea Lion Sculpture and the Gaylord's Restaurant rounding the "blue-light special" spotter boat at the south end of the parade and returning along the waterfront.

Time on Saturday is 6:00 PM. Entry is FREE and the awards ceremony follows at the Sausalito Yacht Club, 8:30 PM with party.
